Official Studio Opening and Exhibition
Last weekend was the first 'official exhibition' at the Studio in Lisnabrinna. We were blessed with amazing weather all weekend and a great turn out of visitors. The exhibition and studio were officially opened by Michael O'Neill the mayor of Clonakilty who loved the uniqueness and location of the studio.
In addition to our studio space we had an old dairy building to display some of the paintings (milking machinery still in situ!) we also hung paintings on the outside of another barn (see the photos below). Visitors on the opening evening were treated to a delicious selection of food, some provided by my fellow artist Susan O'Regan who use to be a chef. and some of our guests also brought food and wine. We had impromptu music as another visitor had brought their own handmade box guitar. It was great to share our work with such a lovely group of people, a mix of writers, artists and musicians as well as neighbours, family and friends. To top it off nature provided a stunning sunset at the end of the evening. I believe the celebrating of the opening went on well into the night after we had closed the doors and headed home!
The rest of the weekend saw plenty of visitors and of course all important sales. After such positive feedback we are hoping to make this exhibition an annual event, although I can't promise such amazing weather! The paintings have now been taken down, delivered to their new owners or boxed for a future exhibition. We are not open to the general public but if you want to make an enquiry about commissioning a painting, see our work space/works in progress you are welcome to visit by appointment.
